An Aprilaire humidifier is a whole-house humidifier unit installed on the heating duct at the point where hot air leaves the furnace. Clean and inspect your Aprilaire humidifier at the start of every heating season to maintain proper functioning of the unit. Built-up mineral deposits distribute water unevenly on the water panel and may cause leaking from the tubing or tray. The water panel should be replaced annually, according to the manufacturer.
Disconnect the unit from the power source by unplugging from an outlet or turning off the appropriate breaker if the unit is hard-wired into the electrical system.
2
Turn off water to the humidifier at the supply line. If a valve was not installed on the supply line, turn off the main water to the house while cleaning the unit.
3
Move the bypass damper located on the heating duct to the "Summer" position.
