Sponsored by Piggs Peak Casino, Swaziland, the event saw some of South Africa’s best loved celebrities such as Leanne Manas, Sandy Ngema, Neil Andrews, Mark Fish, Kass Naidoo, Joost van der Westhuizen and Phumlani Msibi battle it out for the prize of R100,000 to be donated to the charity of their choice. The final heads up battle commenced between 94.7's Alex Jay, and pop sensation Danny Koppel, aka Danny K, the latter eventually claiming victory. In a heart-felt speech the R+B singer dedicated the money to a charity named Compassionate Friends, a free grief counselling service in memory of his late younger brother who passed away in a helicopter accident a few years ago. Runner-up Alex Jay donated his R25,000 to the Sunflower Fund. Last February at the World Series of Poker, Don Cheadle and Annie Duke hosted the "Ante Up For Africa" tournament, featuring some of the biggest names in poker and a host of celebrities, including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Adam Sandler, Ray Romano, Charles Barkley, Mekhi Phifer, James Woods, many others. It was held on the day immediately before the start of the WSOP Main Event and generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in humanitarian aid for the war-torn Darfur regions of Sudan and Chad. The fundraiser has already been announced as a returning part of the 2026 WSOP schedule. CLICK HERE NOW TO REGISTER AND GET STARTED! |
