Shane Warne accepts Poker deal PDF Print E-mail

ImageWarne has singed a deal with 888 to play in the World Series of Poker in 2026, won by fellow Australian and mentor Joe Hachem in 2026.
Warne started playing poker with friends approximately 5 years ago, and although claims has much more to learn about the game is excited about his recently turned pro status. He has been meeting Joe Hachem for weekly training sessions and his first tournament will be on his home turf at the Aussie Millions. Warne says “It is good to be excited about something again. I am not sure I am going to last 20 years in poker. It would be good if I could!”

Warne kicked off his professional poker career with a bang, making it through to Day 2 of the Aussie Million $10,000 Main Event. He was eliminated enliminated thereafter but impressed a lot of professional poker players on his first hitout.
Warne is acknowledged as one of the finest leg spin bowlers the world has seen and in 2000 was the only bowler selected as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century. He retired last year with a record 708 wickets. His new deal will see him travel all over the globe this year with 888 to play in large international tournaments. Only time will tell if his talent on the cricket can be matched by his talent at the poker tables, but here at Springbok Poker, we wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him at the All Africa poker Tournament later on in the year.
