yet it was Phil Ivey who was eventually successful. Despite several WSOP bracelets and titles to his name, and 7 previous appearances at a WPT final table (the 8th appearance this time has led to a record in itself), this was Ivey’s first ever World Poker Tour victory. The event was hosted at the Commerce Casino in LA and many of the biggest names in poker took part. The daunting final table was as follows: Seat 1: Quinn Do — 1,450,000 Seat 2: Nam Le — 1,180,000 Seat 3: Phil Hellmuth — 2,380,000 Seat 4: Phil Ivey — 4,100,000 Seat 5: Charles Moore — 1,510,000 Seat 6: Scott Montgomery — 2,680,000 It got off to a shaky start for Ivey when he lost a stack of chips to Charles Moore, however he played consistently after that outlasting the others including Phil Helmuth who went out in 6th place. Heads-up play began with Phil Ivey holding a better than 4-to-1 chip lead over Quinn Do. It only took two hands and Quinn was put to the test when Phil moved all-in on a board showing A 8 6 A. After agonizing for several minutes, Quinn made the call showing 9 8 for two pair. Phil held A 8 for the full house and had Quinn drawing dead. Ivey took the first prize of $1,596,100, a $25,000 entry in the WPT Championship, and a huge cowboy trophy for the victory. CLICK HERE NOW TO REGISTER AND GET STARTED! |
