Substitute for rug yarn?
I found the instructions for making a wonderful rug, online

I want to know if any other yarn can be substituted for rug yarn in this pattern?

The rug will be a good way to use up leftover yarn, so I was thinking I'd use a J hook and 3-4 strands of yarn together.

If you've done something like that, please let me know.
