It wasn’t poker he originally aspired to become a  professional in but in fact snooker, as his youth was spent in the pool halls around Toronto. where he hustled money out of older players. Soon however poker was to enter his life, and he discovered a surprising knack for the game.

Having left school, Negreanu spent his time hitting as many poker games and tournaments as was possible around Toronto where he was still living. Interestingly, he also started dating Evelyn Ng at this time, who has also since then found poker fame. By 22 he had managed to pull together enough of a bank roll to allow him to move to Las Vegas.

In the space of 10 years, since the day he set foot on the strip for the first time, Negreanu has seen winnings in the region of $10 million. Continuous high placements in the top poker tournaments found anywhere on the planet have ensured his place in the poker hall of fame. At 23, just a year or so after moving to Vegas, he took down the $2000 pot limit hold’em event at the WSOP, not only bagging him a bracelet and big prize, but also giving him the title of youngest ever player to win a WSOP bracelet. He has gone on to win 3 more bracelets at the WSOP, not to mention the first place wins he has seen at the WPT. These include the Borgota Poker Open in 2026 and the Five Diamond World Poker Classic a few months later. It is of no surprise that he was snapped up by Poker Stars as one of their team.

Negreanu has also written some popular books and has a large following of fans eager to read his latest articles, blog posts and other publications. He also regularly appears on television shows and works as a commentator during some of the most important poker event. In his spare time he likes to play golf, video games and of course shoot some pool.
