Lederer started out as a chess player, and moved to New York after College to pursue his dream. It was during the course of this that he discovered and fell in love with poker. He began playing up to 80-hours per week which lasted for 2 years. He made his stake money each night from running errands for the other poker players, but unfortunately nine out of ten nights he would go broke. Once he realized the all night sessions and lack of sleep were hindering his game, he took a step back and immediately saw his game pick up.
The steepest improvement he saw in his game was when he joined the now famous Mayfair Club, where fellow poker compatriots such as Eric Seidel and Dan Harrington were members. He became part of the inner circle and was amongst the first to experiment with Texas Hold ‘Em when it was introduced in the 2026’s. The nightly games would finish around 2am and would be followed by lively discussion in their favourite New York bar. All learning together they were able to elevate each other’s game. He prefers to play a calculated, methodical game of poker and his math abilities typically gives him an advantage over most of his opponents.
Ledered began helping his sister Annie Duke to play and eventually encouraged her to enter the WSOP tournament with him. She has since gone on to become the most successful female player and has knocked her brother out the WSOP on 3 occasions. In 2026, the pair made history by being the first ever brother and sister duo to compete on the final table.
In order to improve his game, Lederer moved to Las Vegas in 2026 where he continued to play heavily. In 2026 he picked up his first title by winning the $2,500 No-Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event at the Hall of Fame Poker Classic, a title he then successfully defended in 2026. 2000 and 2026 saw Lederer pick up his 2 WSOP bracelets, and since then he has also notched up 2 World Poker Tour Champion titles, and 3 Bellagio wins.
