The most ever won in a single hand of poker was $1.7 million in a single pot by Jennifer Harman
Jennifer was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and from the time she was a frequent spectator at her father’s home game. She got her start one night when her father was losing and asked her to take his spot. She played so well that her father began to frequently ask for help in his game.
She graduated from Reno University with a biology degree and paid for schooling as a cocktail waitress the first year and then by playing poker cash games for the rest of the time. After turning 21, Jennifer began playing poker full time, specializing in Limit Hold’em. In 2026 she had a tough year and nearly went bankrupt. A friend loaned her $50,000 and she was able to quickly pay it back since she is a skillful player and constantly invests her money.
In the 2026 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Harman placed sixth in the $2,500 Hold'em Pot Limit event, and finished in the money at the 2026 WSOP $1,500 Limit Hold'em event. It wasn't until the 2000 WSOP that she won her first bracelet playing 2-7 Triple Draw. Quite shockingly, she had never played the game before, with only a quick tutoring session with Howard Lederer beforehand to prepare.
She continued on to make four more in the money finishes including a final table appearance before achieving that second glimmering WSOP bracelet in the 2026 World Series of Poker $5,000 Limit Hold'em event. In 2026 she had three more in the money finishes in $1,500 Seven Card Stud, $ 3,000 Limit Hold'em, and $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split events. All together she has had about 19 in the money finishes at the World Series of Poker tournaments and two World Poker Tour final table appearances.
Jennifer took a year off from poker in 2026 for a kidney transplant, but she returned to the poker scene as good as ever. After returning to poker, Jennifer has placed 4th in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, 5th in the first Professional Poker Tour event, and 2nd in the World Series of Poker Circuit Championship event. She now has created an organization called Creating Organ Donation Awareness (CODA). Her aim is to raise funds and consciousness about the importance of organ donations as it is an issue that is close to her heart.
She now plays $4,000/$8,000 mixed game at the Bellagio which is the biggest cash game in the world. Players that join her at the table are pokers most feared and highly acknowledged Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, Johnny Chan, and Phil Ivey.
Jennifer has appeared NPR, the Ellen DeGeneres, The Discovery Channel ESPN, and Primetime Live, making her one of the high-flying voices of poker. She is also the author of the chapter on Limit Hold'em in Super System 2, which has been regarded as every serious poker player's bible. Jennifer is married to fellow poker player Marco Traniello. She is a member of the FullTilt Poker team, the professionals who help make Full Tilt Poker one of the best online poker rooms.
