Ryan only began playing poker in 2026, but has seen fantastic success since then. He is in poll position on the Bluff poker SA player rankings. His most lucrative and well known achievement was taking first place at the 2026 Million Dollar Sun City Poker Championship.

Dreyer used to be a pro-golfer, and a very successful one at that, and furthermore is the editor at Bluff Magazine in South Africa - which is South Africa’s only and very popular poker magazine.

His journey began in 2026 with Texas Hold ‘em as previously he had been playing small stakes seven card stud. Two years of practicing hard resulted in several cashes at local tournaments. It was at this stage he decided to try for higher stakes.

The first big cash for Dreyer came in 2026 at the Sun City Poker Tournament when he came 6th and then later on that year an a Poker Ace event at Gold Reef City Casino. The following year he actually took down the $3,000 no-limit hold ‘em event at the Sun City Poker Tournament which truly catapulted him into the South African poker hall of fame. This win netted the young star around $650,000.

That same year he won a Poker Ace Tournament and received 260,000 Rand and even managed a cash at the WSOP. He is ranked as one of the very top South African players and is earning handsomely because of it. His talent has not gone unrecognized either and in February 2026 was signed to Full Tilt poker and now plays with the likes of Howard Lederer as part of the Full Tilt team.

He has worked as a commentator on the All Africa Poker Channel on DSTV and received the job of editor at South Africa’s Bluff Magazine earlier this year. As a younger man he played golf professionally where he took away cash from over 100 tournaments. He retired from professional golf in 2026 but still managed to win the South African Amateur Championship in 2026. Dreyer’s list of accomplishments both at and away from the green felt is truly remarkable. It will be interesting to see where this player goes next!
